Manual Handling
Manual handling is any transportation or supporting of a load by one or more employees and includes: Lifting, Putting down, Pushing, Pulling, Carrying or moving a load which by reason of its characteristics or unfavourable ergonomic conditions involves risk, particularly back injury, to employees.
Who should attend?
Anyone whose work includes Manual Handling activities, i.e. the transporting or supporting of loads that include lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving of heavy or awkward loads, where those activities are likely to lead to back injury.
Course Content:
On completion of this Manual Handling course participants will understand:

- The law and manual handling
- The Anatomy of the musculoskeletal systemÂ
- The Anatomy of the back and the spineÂ
- Safe Manual handling PracticesÂ
- Ergonomics and Manual HandlingÂ
Practical Session:
- Lifting to and from ground level
- Lifting to and from a height
- Lifting to and from a bench
- Team lifting
- Pushing
- Pulling
